No hi pot haver ni conciliació amb el cristianisme, ni amb el liberalisme, ni amb cap mena d'idealisme. Ja no parlem del romanticisme. La conclusió de Rosen sobre la filosofia platònica és taxativa i segurament referma la consideració que molts tenim de que cap filosofia pot ser més actual:
As the psyche achieves noetic unity with the good, it loses its own identity as a self (which depends upon discourse, and thence upon the body) Within the limits of feasibility, this is what happens to the individual as a citizen of the just city, The perfectly just citizen tends toward the limit of self-forgetfulness or mathematical monadicity.
